The Pensacola Bay Bridge Goes to School

STEM and STEAM-Focused Curriculum

The Pensacola Bay Bridge replacement project offers an excellent opportunity to introduce local students to science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) topics. As part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s outreach efforts for the Pensacola Bay Bridge replacement project, the department has developed and implemented a school-based outreach program to engage students in this exciting local project.

The priority of the student outreach program is to introduce students in pre-K through grade 12 to the elements of bridge construction, provide career information to high school students, and support existing school district outreach programs. Through a series of planned lessons that include numerous hands-on activities, students will be introduced to the importance of bridges for connecting people to resources, places, and other people.
