Bridge repairs expected to take approximately six months

After a multi-layer inspection and assessment by the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) statewide team of bridge experts, FDOT has announced that the recommended repairs to the damaged areas of the Pensacola Bay Bridge will take approximately six months to complete, weather permitting. FDOT and its partners have made the reopening of the bridge a top priority and have numerous efforts underway.

The Pensacola Bay Bridge that connects Gulf Breeze and Pensacola via U.S. 98 is closed due to damage sustained during Hurricane Sally. Bridge repairs are underway. Drivers may detour using the Garcon Point Bridge on State Road 281 or via S.R. 87, both in Santa Rosa County. The Garcon Point Bridge is open to all vehicles, and tolls have been temporarily suspended.
