Crews readying to pour new concrete bridge decks

Work continues to repair Pensacola Bay Bridge damage that was sustained during Hurricane Sally. Demolition activities are complete, and crews are set to begin pouring the new concrete deck spans.
Contractors working to repair and reconstruct the damaged Pensacola Bay Bridge remain on-schedule for restoring four lanes of traffic to the bridge in March 2021. Much of the demolition debris has been cleared to make way for driving replacement piles, placing new trophy pieces, installing beams, and constructing the bridge decks.
The Florida Department of Transportation has announced that tolls on the Garcon Point Bridge have now been suspended until Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021. Prior to this announcement, the toll suspension was scheduled to be lifted on Sunday, Dec. 13.
Pensacola Bay Bridge repair crews are using barge-mounted construction cranes to lift concrete piles into position and drive them into the bay bottom. Work has also begun to install the replacement beams that are needed for the repair effort.
