Pensacola Bay Bridge Lighting System Update

Pensacola Bay Bridge Lighting System Update

Construction crews continue to test the aesthetic lighting system on the Pensacola Bay Bridge as the project nears completion. The bridge boasts 1,440 LED lights and is capable of multiple light systems and color sequencing.

Over the next week or two, drivers may see the lights on at various times during the day and night while crews troubleshoot all aspects of the lighting system, including sequencing, colors, and patterns.

Following the test and evaluation period, the lights will be on nightly for a month-long “burn-in” phase. During this time, the system will run through various pre-programmed themes to ensure everything works correctly.

When the bridge project is complete, the LED system will be managed by FDOT and used to commemorate state and federal holidays.
