Pensacola Bay Bridge Repairs Continue
Two additional bridge contractors and four salvage companies, mobilized by FDOT, are focusing their efforts on the outermost spans of the bridge to facilitate construction and minimize impacts to the existing structure.
To date, more than 300 additional workers have been brought in to increase resources needed for demolition and reconstruction, salvage and pile operations, and concrete fabrication.
The goal is to repair and reopen the bridge to four lanes of traffic by March 2021.
Spans Repair Progress
This graphic depicts progress on replacing the seven
bridge spans that sustained damage that was significant enough to require full replacement. Spans are the sections of the bridge located
between two pier locations. The pier locations are connected horizontally using concrete beams. The
bridge deck, which includes the travel lanes, is constructed atop the beams.
Substructure Piers & Piles Replacement Progress
Fabrication Progress
Construction crews are working at the Bayou Chico Casting Yard making the replacement beams and piers needed to complete the repairs to the damaged Pensacola Bay Bridge.
